Roy Bingham is a Harvard MBA and former McKinsey consultant, a serial entrepreneur and founder of BDS Analytics. He grew up in the UK, was a banker/financier in London, then moved to the USA in 1993. He has spoken at numerous events, appeared on national TV, authored many articles and built business intelligence services for several industries.
Bingham started BDS Analytics after recognizing that the emerging cannabis industry lacked the kind of sophisticated, sales-based data that is both commonplace and essential in other, more established industries. In those industries, market research – and consumer behavior – drive everything from new product development to inventory and branding decisions.
Before starting BDS Analytics he was SVP of RenewLife a $100 million natural digestive care company in which he ran a division and had heavy involvement in marketing, sales and product development. Bingham had also been both an early investor in SPINS – a very successful data analytics company for the Natural Products Industry and later was an expert user of their data as a senior marketing executive.
BDS Analytics is now the indispensable source for cannabis industry data and insight. It collects, processes, and presents point of sale market share data for the cannabis industry. It provides actionable insights through its GreenEdge software based on accurate information derived from tens of millions of transactions that enables clients (dispensaries, brands and growers) to make smart decisions that sustain their success. Expanding its service, In March 2017, in partnership with ArcView Market Research, BDS Analytics published the industry-leading strategic publication: The State of Legal Marijuana Markets. Then in May 2017 BDS Analytics completed the first projectable survey of Cannabis Consumer Behavior and Attitudes.
